Overview
Payless Africa is transforming digital payments by making them fast, secure, and effortlessly fun. As the Customer Verification Supervisor, you are the final gatekeeper of customer onboarding, ensuring every verified profile meets regulatory, compliance, and internal quality standards before approval. You’ll review escalated or complex KYC cases, validate document authenticity, ensure policy adherence, and provide guidance to Verification Agents. Your leadership supports a secure, compliant, and seamless onboarding experience, protecting both our customers and the integrity of the Payless ecosystem.
Job Description
● Approve customer documents reviewed by KYC/Verification Agents, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
● Conduct advanced reviews for complex, high-risk, or suspicious verification cases.
● Perform enhanced due diligence (EDD) for flagged accounts or unusual customer profiles.
● Ensure onboarding decisions align with KYC, AML, and regulatory requirements.
● Identify fraud indicators, document inconsistencies, and potential risk concerns.
● Provide corrective feedback and coaching to Document Verifiers to enhance quality and accuracy.
● Maintain organized approval logs and documentation for regulatory and audit purposes.
● Collaborate with the Compliance Manager on escalated cases and risk-related decisions.
● Monitor workload and turnaround times to ensure smooth and timely customer onboarding.
● Assist during compliance audits by preparing reports, summaries, and document samples.
● Recommend process improvements to strengthen KYC operations and reduce onboarding risk.
● Stay updated on regulatory changes affecting customer verification and compliance processes.
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Finance, Criminology, Forensics, or a related field.
● Minimum 4 years of experience in KYC, Compliance, Fraud Prevention, or Identity Verification.
● Strong understanding of KYC/AML regulations and customer due diligence processes.
● Proven ability to detect fraudulent documents, mismatched data, and high-risk profiles.
● Experience using onboarding systems like Metamap, compliance tools, or CRM platforms.
● Strong analytical and decision-making skills with a high level of accuracy.
● Excellent communication skills with the ability to guide and support verification agents.
● Ability to prioritize multiple approvals and meet turnaround time expectations.
